"There's nothing to suggest that this quiet corner of Ainslie shops
would be home to such a gem, but here it is. Restaurant 2602 is a
restaurant/cafe that's passionate about fresh, organic produce."
"There's some truth to the idea that if you love what you do then
others will love it too, and this might explain the popularity of
Restaurant 2602. When owner and chef Ben Eveille talks you can hear the
passion and excitement in his voice. A cross between a cafe and a
restaurant, the menu, which is focused around the use of fresh, organic
produce, changes every few days as Eveille experiments with his craft."
"Renowned for their breakfasts and their coffee, you can sit at the
umbrella clad tables in the sun and enjoy French toast with bacon and
grilled banana drizzled with maple syrup and enjoy the serenity....
The wine list is small, but well chosen to complement
the menu. For an extra special experience keep an eye out for the
monthly wine dinners where Eveille will come and chat to you about the
food, and when you can catch that glint in his eye, you'll get excited
about it too."
Review by deGroots Best Restaurants of Australia
"Situated at the more peaceful end of Ainslie's strip of shops and
eateries, 2602 offers the sort of relaxed and friendly atmosphere that
is prized in a neighbourhood local. Open as a cosy cafe during the day,
2602 is known for its great value breakfasts. However, at lunch and
dinner, chef Ben Eveille gets to show off his skill with seafood with
his marine critter-based menu. The seafood antipasto platter is a
vibrant collage of colours and flavours - from tender baby octopus and
king prawns to salty purple kalamata olives. A family-run (and
family-friendly) enterprise, 2602's greatest strength is its open and
approachable style, making it an asset to the postcode."
